My Current Work:
Some 35 years ago I was brought ashore from the Merchant Navy by Esso Petroleum, to work within Fawley Refinery as a controller of Pipeline Division. My wife, Barbara and four children moved with me to Hythe and settled in Fairview Drive, where I’ve remained to date.
After a couple of years ashore I was able to form a Tyro Football Team, Hythe Strikers and fourteen years later, yet another boys football team, Hythe Hotspurs.
Our families moulding into the community found us heavily involved with Special needs children when I became Chairman of the New Forest Opportunity Group and my wife the Supervisor of the pre-school playgroup. It didn’t stop there, for we also had about twenty years helping to supervise, organise and become Chairman of the Salterns Play-scheme, a fantastic fortnight of fun for up to fifty Special needs and an equal number of local volunteers. In 1990 we became respite carers to many local special needs children and fostered a lovely four year old who remained with us until just before her eighteenth birthday.
Sadly in 2013 I lost my wife and partner of 42 years, to a blood disorder.
Becoming a Parish Councillor in May 2015 has given me the opportunity to once again involve myself in this great village of ours. I’m here to help, wherever possible, to any parishioner of any age, so if you think I can be of assistance, you know how to contact me.
