Vacancy for Parish Development Officer

Hythe and Dibden Parish Council is looking to recruit a Parish Development Officer working part time 23 hours a week based at the Grove in Hythe. This is a 1 year fixed contract post with the possibility of becoming permanent. The post holder will report to the Clerk to the Council. The purpose of this role is to assist the Council in its work to enhance, improve and promote the vitality of the Parish and the viability of services provided to the local community by private, public and third sector partners
Salary SCP 23, £30,151 FTE (pro rata is £18,691) plus enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Main responsibilities:
The Parish Development Officer will be responsible for a wide range of community based work, generally under the following headings:
1. Delivery of Council projects
2. Identify, plan and coordinate events (incorporating speciality markets) and associated tasks
3. Liaise with the Market Provider to ensure a smooth and appropriate running of the street market, and to develop the market
4. Communications and media to promote the Council and its events/projects, including social media, PR, website, promotional materials, newsletters etc.
5. Facilitate the monthly Cinema as directed by Council
6. Consult with the community and partners and continue the RevitalHythe strategy and delivering any action plans as agreed by Council.
7. Assist with any consultations, development and implementation work as required in updating the Neighbourhood Plan.
8. Undertaking such other responsibilities and functions as may be required from time to time commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of this post.
